2. Privacy Policy for the myPWS iOS App

2.1 General information

The myPWS iOS app is designed to display weather station data from personal weather stations.

The app does not sell personal data and does not use the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA).

The app does not transmit the weather station data displayed in the app to Totalidea Software GmbH for independent evaluation. Weather station data retrieved by the app is processed for the purpose of displaying and updating the data requested by the user.

Depending on the app version and configuration, the app may process technical diagnostic and usage data as described below. Such data is used to maintain, secure and improve the app and, where required, only after the user's consent.

2.2 Controller

The controller responsible for data processing by the myPWS app is:

Totalidea Software GmbH
Am Holzwickeder Bach 13
59439 Holzwickede
Germany

Managing Director:
Stefan Kuske

Commercial Register:
Amtsgericht Hamm, HRB 10679

VAT Identification Number:

2.3 Weather station data and Wunderground

The myPWS iOS app retrieves weather station data from the Wunderground.com service in order to display the selected personal weather station data in the app.

The displayed weather station data may include measured values and sensor data such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind, rain or similar weather-related values, depending on the weather station and data made available through the service.

The data retrieved from Wunderground.com is used by the app to provide the functions requested by the user.

The processing carried out by Wunderground.com is subject to the privacy information and terms of the respective Wunderground.com service provider. Totalidea Software GmbH has no control over independent processing performed by Wunderground.com.

2.4 API key and authentication data

To retrieve weather station data from Wunderground.com, an API key may be required.

The API key is stored locally on the user's device, depending on the app version and configuration, and is used only to authenticate data requests to the Wunderground.com service.

Totalidea Software GmbH does not collect or forward the user's API key for independent evaluation or profiling purposes.

2.5 Local processing on the device

Weather station data retrieved by the app is processed on the user's iOS device for display and app functionality. The data may be temporarily cached or stored locally on the device in order to provide app functions, reduce repeated requests and improve performance.

The user can delete locally stored app data by deleting the app from the device. Additional deletion options may be available within iOS or within the app, depending on the app version.

2.6 Error analysis and crash reports

If crash reporting is enabled in the app, technical diagnostic data may be processed in order to analyze and fix program errors.

This may include:

- Pseudonymous app instance identifier or device-related identifier
- Device model
- iOS version
- App version
- Date and time of the error
- Information about memory and storage state
- Technical crash information
- Stack traces and information about the source code location where the error occurred
- General device state information at the time of the error

Crash reports are used exclusively for error analysis, stability improvement and maintenance of the app.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, unless consent is required or requested. Our legitimate interest lies in maintaining a stable and secure app. If the app asks for consent before enabling crash reporting, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

2.7 Usage analysis

If usage analytics is enabled in the app, pseudonymous technical and usage data may be processed for statistical analysis and improvement of the app.

This may include:

- Pseudonymous app instance identifier
- Pseudonymous support identifier generated by the app, if used
- Version number of the myPWS iOS app
- Date and time of app use
- Number of users and sessions
- Session duration
- Operating system
- Device model
- Region and language
- First app launch
- App execution events including date and time
- App update events
- In-app purchase events, where applicable
- General device information such as model, operating system and orientation
- RAM and storage information
- CPU usage
- Network type, such as Wi-Fi or mobile network
- Country, which may be derived from the IP address
- Battery and charging status
- Foreground or background state of the app
- Network request metadata without URL parameters or payload content, such as response codes, payload size, response times and duration of automatic traces

Usage analytics is used to understand how the app is used, to improve reliability and performance, and to plan future app functions.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR if the app asks for consent. If only strictly necessary technical measurements are processed, the legal basis may be Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The app does not use the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA).

2.8 Firebase / Google services, if enabled

If Firebase services such as Firebase Crashlytics, Google Analytics for Firebase or Firebase Performance Monitoring are integrated and enabled in the app, the data described in the sections above may be transmitted to and processed by Google.

The service provider is generally:

Google Ireland Limited
Gordon House
Barrow Street
Dublin 4
Ireland

Google may use affiliated companies and service providers for technical processing. This may involve processing outside the European Union or the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards under the GDPR are used, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

Firebase-related processing is used for crash analysis, app stability, performance monitoring and usage statistics, depending on which services are actually enabled in the app.

If Firebase services are not enabled in the app, this section does not apply.

2.9 In-app purchases and premium status

If the app offers in-app purchases or premium functions, purchase processing is handled by Apple through the App Store.

Totalidea Software GmbH does not receive full payment details such as credit card numbers. The app may process information about whether premium access is active, the type of purchase and the expiration date of a subscription or premium entitlement, where applicable. This is necessary to provide paid functions and verify access.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

Apple's own privacy information applies to processing carried out by Apple.

2.10 No advertising identifier and no sale of data

The myPWS app does not use the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA).

Personal data is not sold. The app does not create advertising profiles for third-party advertising purposes.

2.11 App permissions

The app may request permissions that are required for specific functions. Such permissions are controlled by iOS and can be managed in the iOS Settings app.

The app only accesses data or device functions after permission has been granted or where access is otherwise technically permitted by iOS.

2.12 Storage duration

Data processed locally in the app is stored only for as long as necessary for the app function. Local data can generally be removed by deleting the app from the device.

Diagnostic and analytics data, where enabled, is stored only for as long as necessary for analysis, maintenance and improvement of the app, or as defined by the respective technical service provider's retention settings.

2.13 Your rights

You have the following rights under the GDPR, subject to the statutory requirements:

- Right of access
- Right to rectification
- Right to erasure
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR
- Right to withdraw consent with effect for the future, where processing is based on consent

To exercise your rights, you may contact us using the contact options provided above.

2.14 Consent settings

Where the app provides settings for crash reporting or usage analytics, you may change your preference in the app settings or, where applicable, in the iOS settings.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

2.15 Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection law.

The competent supervisory authority for North Rhine-Westphalia is:
